KKIP Blood Donation

Every year there will be many events held in UMS and blood donation is one that cannot be forgotten. Every year blood donation will be held by different hospitals in different places. This year the blood donation was held in KKIP on 28 & 29 of August 2009. This blood donation is held by Exco Kebajikan & Keselamatan, JAKMAS Kolej Kediaman Indah Permai with the cooperation of Jabatan Hal Ehwal Pelajar & Alumni Hospital Queen Elizabeth. Since this blood donation is held in the fasting month there will be 2 sessions, 1 for the non-muslims and muslims. The non-muslims sessions is from 3 to 6 pm while for the muslims is from 7 to 9.30 pm.

Actually I was thinking of donating blood myself but i decided not to. Even though the time to donate for muslims is after "berbuka" but i figured that my body is weak and cannot donate blood. That is because i only eat some biscuits with mineral water during "sahur". Well i rarely went to shop for snacks to eat in my room and i just eat outside for lunch and dinner (we cannot cook in hostel). Because of that i think that i will fail the hemoglobin test thus cannot donate. Anyway the blood donation went smoothly and quite a lot of students went to donate their blood, which is quite the same with other blood donation campaign held in UMS. I guess UMS students is really generous in donating their blood. Lastly, donate your blood! 1 drop could save a life...

Fasting Always Comes With Baazar..

Based on Islamic Calendar now we already in the month of Ramadhan and the muslim will be fasting. And on Ramadhan of course there will be "Baazar Ramadhan" in the evening before "berbuka puasa" or as Sabahan said "bersungkai". In Indah Permai the baazar is quite big and there are many kinds of food being selled there such as Kebab, Nasi Beriani, Roti Nan and others. The place will be crowded with people who came which is not only muslims but chinese and others also. By 4.30pm the place is already crowded even though "berbuka" time is around 6.30pm, so came early if not the food that u want will be sold out. Lastly, for all muslims "Selamat Berpuasa & Selamat Beramal".

Movie for Free Time

As a student, one of the things that i usually do during my free time is watching movie. Before i have to go to the town to watch movie in the cinema but now that 1 Borneo is already open not anymore. Quite lucky for UMS students because they have a hyper mall just next door to the university. In 1 Borneo the cinema is Golden Screen Cinema (GSC) and the quality of the place quite good, the place is comfortable, the food is delicious. Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit it's just popcorn and some fast foods. Anyway it's better than have to go to the town itself to watch some movie.

The other day i with my friends went to watch a Chinese movie which entitled "On His Majesty's Secret Services". This is a Chinese comedy movie and the movie was so funny that i end up laughing hard because the comedy was crazy and sometimes unreasonable. Hahaha. But then this is a comedy story of course sometimes it doesn't make sense. Anyway I'm satisfied watching this movie and hope that i can watch other good movies in the future.

Russian Film Assignment

Labu & Labi

In UMS i took Russian language for my foreign language subject. This subject is taught by Madam Larissa Nikitina. The foreign language consist of 4 level which i took from my 1st semester until the 4th semester. For each level we were given an assignment that we must complete, until the 3rd semester we search for some Russian culture that we are interested with and do some research then present to the whole class. In the last semester the lecturer give us an option either to do the same as we have made during the last 3 semester or we can make a video on our own. After much discussion with the lecturer, in group that consist of 6 person we decided to make our own short film.

Next we start brainstorming for ideas such as the title, plot, character, setting and others. From the discussion we decided to make short film based from an old comedy film that is Labu Labi made by Tan Sri P.Ramlee but with a little twist in it. Then we made the script for the film with the guidance from Madam Larissa to get the feeling of real everyday conversation in Russian language. Next we get all the tools needed and start filming during our free time, it is a new experience for us to act in front of camera while speaks Russian language. Many scene needs to be retake especially the scene that have many lines. We even have to run around for a scene during noon. The filming session which took about 2 weeks ended smoothly.

After the filming phase, next is the editing phase to put all the scene together to complete it. For this editing phase I'm the one whose been put in charge to edit the film. Actually I've never done any video editing before but i learn to do it little by little. First, i need to arrange the scene taken into order and cut the unnecessary scene. Next, insert the narration and sound effects for the movie. After that, finalize the time line and insert the subtitle because this is a Russian language film. Finally, start encoding the film and check whether there are problems or not.

During the presentation we show our film to the class and receives good response for it. We were happy that we manage to finish our film and we've gained many experience during this assignment. All of it will become a memories that i treasure.

My Hostel.. KKIP

Since i started studying in UMS, i've been staying in Kolej Kediaman Indah Permai (KKIP). When i look back it's already been 3 years... Times do fly. Actually the students can choose which hostel that they want to apply but i like staying here so i ended up staying here all the time. The KKIP hostel is a terrace house which is not like the other dormitory hostel. The house is a double storey house which have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There will be 7 students per house at most for each house.

What i like about staying here is that you are staying in a house and not a dormitory. Basically is not that i can't stay in a dormitory but i preffer not to after my previous experienced. If you are staying in a dormitory, the bathrooms is shared among all of the students and when it is shared with many kinds of people it tends to get ugly. The bathrooms, toilets and even the washing room can get really dirty even when theres worker that will wash it. Whoose fault is it... of course the students himself but if you are the only one who try to keep things clean while the other 100 or even more just do whatever they like, the result is the same. I've had enough with my 5 years eperienced in secondry school. Thats why i preffer to stay in the house where there are less student than in dormitory.
